Extera Partners Creates Extera Capital to Fund Underserved Life Science Companies

April 5, 2008: Extera Partners launched Extera Capital to Invest in Life Science Growth Companies

Backed by top international funds, Extera Partners launches a new investment vehicle, Extera Capital, to provide expansion funds to international medical and life science product growth companies that are underserved by traditional private equity and venture investors and that do not fit aggressive return on investment or leverage expectations of these investor classes.

Extera Capital shall invest in companies seeking to enter the US or European markets, spin-off products, restructure financially or as part of a management buy-out. These entities shall have a clear path to regulatory approval and/or to product launch & profitability, require $10 million or less and demonstrate a realistic plan to exit within two to three years.

Dr. Jonathan Reis, General Partner, affirms that "Many emerging product based companies must fund commercialization or top line growth to become attractive acquisition candidates. Extera Capital meets these challenges by providing the necessary funding, experience, hands-on interim support, and presence in key markets to guide companies towards these attractive exits."
